Many men unable to relax when their other half is driving
A recent study has revealed a top-ten list of complaints which men have about women’s ability to drive. In the number one position is the belief by men that their partners and wives simply lack the ability to concentrate when they are behind the steering wheel. The survey found that a high proportion of men believed that women could not drive safely because they were too easily distracted by the scenery, children and other motorists.
A spokesman for OnePoll.com, the online market researchers, said that it was clear that most men believed they were better at driving than their other halves. He added that men thought they had a better ability to concentrate whilst driving and that they had better reaction times than women.
The second biggest complaint was that women tended to brake too late. In sixth place was the complaint that when they did brake women tended to brake too hard. Flicking the accelerator pedal was also high on the list of annoying habits. Many men claimed that their partners tended to use the accelerator as a stop-start pedal, and that this made the whole driving experience rather uncomfortable.
One in five men admitted that they were never able to relax when they were in a moving vehicle and their partner was in control.
A recent study of 2 million accidents by Diamond Insurance revealed that women tended to have more accidents whilst travelling at slower speeds, whereas men tend to have more accidents when they lose control of vehicles at higher speeds.
