Hertz buys Hollywood equipment supplier
Hertz, Hollywood, Hertz has announced that it is now the owner of 1st Call Studio Equipment, a facilities house which supplies equipment to the television and film industry. The acquisition of the company from RoadSafe Holdings means the car hire giant will now supply a range of specialised equipment such as light towers, fork lifts, scissor lifts and booms to production companies involved in producing music videos, commercials, television shows and films.
Based in California, the rental company is a leading supplier to production companies across the US and has offices in Louisiana, Albuquerque and Hollywood. 1st Call Studio Equipment was established in 1999 and has a reputation for saving production companies money as well as time.
Mark P Frissora, chief executive at Hertz, said that the acquisition of 1st call was the vehicle rental firm’s first foray into the entertainment industry and that Hertz was actively seeking to widen its presence in the arena of television and film. He added that by expanding into the market he hoped significant revenue streams would be created for the firm.
Gerry Plescia, president of Hertz Equipment Rental, said that by integrating 1st Call into Hertz Entertainment Services the company was establishing itself in Hollywood, as well as opening up new markets in Louisiana and Albuquerque. He added that he hoped that the idea of marrying equipment services with vehicle hire would be as successful in California as it already is in New York.
President and chief executive of RoadSafe Traffic Systems, Michael Catalonello, said that he could not think of a better company than Hertz to look after the continuing development of 1st Call.
