European Union set to ease liquid controls at airports

The European Union has announced that it will be bringing to an end the restrictions which are currently in place to prevent airline passengers carrying liquids onto aircraft. Currently, passengers are only allowed to take liquids on board if they are in containers measuring no more than 100ml, and if the containers are visible in a clear plastic bag measuring no more than 20cm by 20cm. The restrictions are due to come to an end by April 2013. The ban on liquids came into force in 2006 after British police uncovered a terrorist plot to smuggle liquid explosives onto transatlantic flights. [...]
