Dollar Thrifty announces delay on decision

The high profile takeover case of car rental group Dollar Thrifty will continue after the group announced it was delaying its decision. Executives at Dollar Thrifty have decided to reschedule the shareholder meeting that was to take place on August 18 for September 16, as they require more time to evaluate the $1.3 billion offer from Hertz. Their scheduling of the August date had been based upon a perceived understanding of industry practices and rules. Scott Thompson, Dollar Thrifty CEO, said that federal regulators had advised the group that the extra time would be required to allow stock brokers to notify shareholders [...]
