Disruption on the Tube as strike goes ahead

Strikes on the London Underground will proceed, starting on Monday, after last minute talks to avoid disruption have broken down. The talks between the Rail, Maritime and Transport union and London Underground being held at Acas collapsed within hours, each side apparently blaming the other for not coming to a resolution.
The current fight is over London Underground’s announcement that it will be axing 800 jobs. The RMT claims the job cuts and cuts to safety are not, as London Underground claims, due to the efficiency of the Oyster Card and better technology, but due to a slashing of funding by [...]
