Avis announces finalists for scholarship
Avis has announced the names of the six finalists who will be competing for the Avis Travel Agent Scholarship of Excellence. This year is the 14th in the scholarship’s history and according to the organisers it has also been the most competitive. The scholarship was set up to reward travel agents in Australia, who prove that they are dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service, with the opportunity of developing their careers, as well as participating in international travel.
This year’s prize has been valued at more than $40,000. Travel consultants from across the country have applied for the scholarship. Avis Travel Industry Manager, Russell Butler, said that this year’s finalists represented a diverse but exceptionally talented group. He added that a strong incentive for those applying for the award was the increasingly important educational aspect of the prize.
The winner of the 2010 scholarship will be given a year’s free tuition on a Bachelor of Tourism Management course at the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Southern Cross University. The winner will also be given entry to the Travel Industry Mentor Experience.
As well as the educational aspect of the scholarship finalists will also be battling it out for the chance to win two return Business Class tickets to New York with Qantas, luxury accommodation for six nights and free Avis car hire for the duration of the visit.
The winner of the scholarship will be announced at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney on August 5 after members of the Avis Travel Agents Advisory Board have heard each applicant’s final presentations.
