Following the discovery of a briefcase containing dead pigeons and a pair of boots abandoned beside a baggage carrousel at Gatwick Airport, the UK Border Agency has decided to compile a list of the weirdest things it has ever found. The birds were discovered by one of the airport’s baggage handlers on 9 August.

Strikes on the London Underground will proceed, starting on Monday, after last minute talks to avoid disruption have broken down. The talks between the Rail, Maritime and Transport union and London Underground being held at Acas collapsed within hours, each side apparently blaming the other for not coming to a resolution.

Leading global car rental company Hertz has continued to expand its network of partnerships.
The Hertz Corporation and ExpertFlyer.com today announced that the companies have joined in a new agreement that will provide small businesses a host of exclusive savings.
These include discounts on travel services such Hertz rental cars, membership with ExpertFlyer.com, and savings on other corporate program participants. The new alliance will focus on the continuing demand for travel service companies to provide effective travel solutions to small businesses to assist them in maximising their travel budgets.

The ongoing battle for ownership of Dollar Thrifty has been stepped up once again.
The Avis Budget group has announced that it has raised the cash portion of its bid for the Tulsa-based Dollar Thrifty, intensifying its hostile bidding war with rival Hertz Global Holdings.
Yesterday, Avis declared that it would now be offering $40.75 per share in cash, an increase from its previous bid of $39.25.
