$15 million wrongful death lawsuit awarded against Enterprise Rent A Car

A jury in California has ruled in favour of a family whose daughters died in a car crash involving a recalled vehicle.
The parents of Raechel and Jacqueline Houck, from Santa Cruz, were awarded $15 million after filing a lawsuit against the San Francisco office of Enterprise Rent-A-Car claiming wrongful death. The two women perished in a fiery accident inside a car that had been part of a safety recall but was never repaired by the largest car rental company in the US.

Japanese worker goes on violent spree in Mazda factory

A disgruntled employee at a Mazda factory in Hiroshima has killed one person and injured 10 others.
The attack has sent shockwaves around Japan, evoking chilling memories of a similar attack by an automotive worker two years ago in the capital Tokyo.
Toshiaki Hikiji, 42, was apprehended by police on charges of attempted murder an hour after escaping the Ujina Mazda plant in his car. Premier Inn welcomes weekend customers

Whitbread owned Premier Inn is claiming that guests are flocking back to the brand, following a push to encourage customers to go on weekend breaks, and a recent advertising campaign featuring comedian, Lenny Henry. Alan Parker, the company’s chief executive, said that times were austere, but that the chain’s strategy of supplying a reasonably priced hospitality brand had meant that it was capable of putting in a strong performance within the market at the moment. Train travel becoming a more satisfying experience

A recent report by Passenger Focus, the nation’s rail watchdog, shows that train passengers are becoming more satisfied by their train travel experience. A survey of 31,000 train users revealed that 83 per cent of travellers were happy with their treatment by Britain’s train companies, an increase of two per cent from the spring of last year.
