British holidaymakers book well in advance according to Expedia

A report by online travel experts, Expedia, suggests that British holidaymakers like to book their trips well in advance and commonly opt for package deals. Those booking a holiday also tend to do so on a Monday evening, with only one in ten waiting for the weekend to come round to book a holiday on a Saturday. The report showed that Sunday was the quietest day of the week for the Expedia website.

Emirates scoops Skytrax award for in-flight entertainment

Emirates Airlines has received the accolade for best in-flight entertainment system at an awards ceremony for the sixth consecutive year. The award for World’s Best Airline Inflight Entertainment was handed over at the prestigious 2010 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The ceremony was held in Hamburg.
In 2003 Emirates introduced its information, communications and entertainment system, or ice, and has since then concentrated on continually updating it in terms of the quality of its content and technical innovation. Car sharing programs to operate under same laws as rental companies

A US court has ruled that car-sharing companies should be afforded the same legal protection as rental organisations.
In what is widely believed to be the first such ruling, a judge in Queens, New York, has deemed that the burgeoning car-sharing outfit Zipcar would be able to avail itself of the same protections under the 2005 federal Graves Amendment, which protects rental car agencies against being liable for accidents that involve their vehicles.

Dollar Thrifty Raises $300 million from asset notes

The Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group has announced a new cash injection as it slowly rights itself from a bleak 2009.
Dollar Thrifty has advised that it has raised $300 million in revenue from a three-year financing deal which involved the private placement of asset-backed securities from its rental car operations, giving the company a much needed boost as it continues to come under the spotlight of potential takeover bids from both Hertz and Avis.
