The heads of Australia’s leading companies, including Thrifty Rent A Car, went rough to raise money for the homeless.
Abandoning their suits for pyjamas and sleeping in cardboard rather than opulence, the CEOs took part in the charity event to raise attention to the plight of homeless people in Australia while also raising valuable funds for the worthy cause. More than two million dollars was raised over the event which was held in all major urban centres except for Hobart, in Tasmania.

The American Automotive Policy Council has declared its support for the abolition of discriminatory taxes on rental vehicles.
Acting on behalf of leading car manufacturers General Motors, Ford Motor Company and the Chrysler Group, the AAPC said it was in favour of doing away with the practice of different states imposing various taxes on users who either choose or are required to hire a car or truck. To date, around $7.5 billion has been accrued from the US consumer through these taxes.

After eight years as boss of Network Rail, Iain Coucher has announced that he will be stepping down. The company in charge of the UK rail network said that Mr Coucher was departing for purely personal reasons, and that now was a good time for someone new to step in to negotiate the next funding deal. Mr Coucher has said that he will remain in his position as chief executive until a suitable replacement is found.

A call for the end of discriminatory taxes on rental vehicles has been supported by a body looking after the interests of car manufacturers in the US. A US judge has ruled that Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc will be allowed to pursue a case against two of its former executives who allegedly stole trade secrets. Amar Lalvani and Ross Klein left the hotel group in 2008 to join rivals Hilton Worldwide. United States District Judge, Stephen Robinson, said this week that there was enough evidence to demonstrate that the pair accessed computer files without any authorization, and stole documents containing confidential information.
