The Conservative group for the London Assembly has stated that all London Underground trains should become driverless.
In a proposal to London mayor Boris Johnson, the Tories said that such a move would halt strike action while saving up to £141 million each year in wages. According to Transport for London (TfL) staff who are currently employed on Underground trains fulfil a number of valuable roles, including providing information, passenger reassurance and assistance and general customer service.
However, the London Assembly Conservatives, in their statement to Mr Johnson, claim that driverless trains would offer faster, safer and more efficient levels of service. [...]

The Chinese company BYD Auto, an affiliate of Fakhro Motors, has signed a new deal with Budget Rent A Car.
The arrangement will see a number of cars sold to Budget as the car rental specialist seeks to consolidate its position as the hire vehicle leader in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Nick Phillips, the Fakhro Motors Divisional Manager, signed off on the delivery at a recent function hosted in the Sitra showroom of BYD Auto. A leaked report, purportedly from the London Assembly Conservatives to Mayor of London Boris Johnson, proposes that all London Underground trains should be driverless. The Conservative report claims that removing drivers would not only save Transport for London an estimated £141 million per year in wages, but would also prevent future strike action.

Virgin Atlantic has once again teamed up with the Panasonic Avionics Corporation in a long term agreement which will see the electronics giant supply the airline with its eXPhone communications system and its eX2 in-flight entertainment product. The award winning technology is due to be fitted to all Airbus A330s in the Virgin fleet.
Once up and running the system will allow passengers to send and receive emails and texts as well as make phone calls from their own mobile devices. The added functionality of the eX2 in-flight entertainment package means that passengers will be delivered a much more interactive experience.

Hertz has teamed up with used car sales experts AutoTrader.com in order to boost the audience for their used car program, Hertz Rent2Buy. The partnership will mean that the 15 million people who visit AutoTrader’s website every month will now be offered a range of used vehicles from the Hertz rental fleet.
