A greater number of seats and improved CCTV coverage are just some of the features of the newly refurbished East Midlands trains.
A £10m programme to address these issues across 25 East Midlands trains has now been completed, with passengers benefitting from greater security and improved air conditioning in addition to the extra seating.
East Midlands trains run on routes from Norwich to Liverpool, through Peterborough, Nottingham and Sheffield. The group also operates services from London to Derby. As the official airline backing Britain’s bid to host the football World Cup in 2018, British Airways is already starting to capitalise on the enthusiasm being shown for the South African games. The airline will fly around 70,000 passengers to South Africa over the next month, with seven flights a week to Cape Town, and 19 flights a week to Johannesburg.

Fairholme Capital, the third largest shareholder in Hertz Global Holdings, has cut its stake in the car rental giant.
A reduction of over a third was announced by Fairholme Capital Management LLC, leaving the group with just an 8.5 per cent stake in the car rental specialist.
Through its numerous investment vehicles, Fairholme Capital now owns roughly 34.9 million shares in Hertz, according to its filing late last week. The group had previously owned around 56.2 million shares – equivalent to 13.6 per cent of the total Hertz Global Holdings portfolio.
