New data has indicated that petrol prices across Europe have risen by almost a third over the past 12 months.
The research, undertaken by the Post Office, discovered that British holidaymakers have had to manage significant petrol price rises in all 14 of the continental countries surveyed, with Switzerland, Austria and Sweden recording the largest increases. The survey looked at prices for both unleaded and diesel fuel.

Online travel company, Expedia, has announced the launch of a new charity initiative. TravelRelief has been set up by Expedia Affiliate Network to provide customers with the opportunity of donating money to charitable organisations participating in the scheme. Through TravelRelief.org, those booking a hotel through Expedia will now be able to contribute at least eight per cent of the booking price to a participating organisation of their choice.

Lower track access charges have seen Network Rail profits plummet in the past year.
Network Rail, the organisation in charge of the operation of the UK’s main railway stations and track infrastructure, posted a pre-tax profit for the year to March 31 of £395 million, significantly down from the £1.5 billion recorded in the previous year.
The group’s overall revenue dropped from £6.16bn to £5.67bn, whereas operating costs increased from £3.62 billion to £3.69 billion.

Insurance firm, LV, has published the results of a survey which suggests that British Airways is the airline with which British travellers most often have baggage issues. The figures show that nearly a quarter of all those who took part in the survey have experienced baggage loss, damage or delays at some point in the last five years whilst travelling with BA.
