The US car rental service designed for inner-city dwellers is planning a $75 million US stock market float.
Zipcar, which has been battling to achieve stead expansion since its inception a decade ago, hopes to raise $75 in the move, which was announced yesterday after the successful acquisition of the UK franchise Streetcar – which offers similar car-sharing and cost-savings plans. $5 million will be used to payback former Streetcar investors.

A deal is said to be close to being finalised between Emirates and the Sri Lankan government over a buy back of the 43.6 per cent stake the Dubai based carrier has in SriLankan Airlines. Emirates has been seeking a buyer for its share in the carrier ever since it ended its management contract in 2008 with the Colombo based airline.

Leading US car rental company Enterprise Holdings has announced a new companywide sustainability initiative.
On Thursday last week, Enterprise unveiled the new project which it claims will reduce both usage and costs by up to 20 per cent in the next five years. The 20/20 Vision program from Enterprise has already made a selected debut, with some markets used to trial the initiative, which will save up to $50 million in energy costs.
