UK motorists who have suffered car damage from motorway potholes are unlikely to receive compensation.
Just one in ten claims are approved by the Highways Agency, who is obliged to reimburse British motorists whose vehicles have sustained damage due to road holes that have not been filled, but 90 per cent of such claims are rejected by the agency.

The police have announced the launch of a nationwide crackdown against vandals who deliberately damage the country’s trains by throwing rocks.
The announcement coincides with the latest Spring Bank school holidays which have seen officers and rail companies alike bracing themselves for the traditional upsurge in attacks involving vandalism.
Stone throwing youths are believed to cost train firms hundreds of thousands of pounds in damages each year, something which members of Operation Shellshock hope to rectify. Investigators looking in to the cause of the plane crash in Libya on May 12 have announced that the disaster, which killed 103 people, was not caused by mechanical failure. A preliminary examination of the aircraft black-box flight recorders, seems to show that there was enough fuel on board for the plane to have stayed in the air and that there was no cry for help at any time.

Cruise operators in the UK are predicting a record number of bookings for holidays at sea this year, as customers are put off flying to holiday destinations by the disruption caused by volcanic ash above Europe and the ongoing strikes at British Airways. Many companies are already reporting a dramatic increase in the number of people inquiring about their cruise itineraries.

A Birmingham man has been sent to jail for two years after a court found him guilty of running an unlicensed car clamping firm. 28-year-old Andrew Baker, who ran Inter Park UK in Milton Keynes, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Birmingham, admitted that he had conspired with others in making demands from drivers which were completely unwarranted.
