Eboookers.com launches ebookers for agents programme

Ebookers.com, the online travel expert, has announced the launch of its affiliate programme for travel agents – ‘ebookers for agents’. The new service will initially be rolled out in the UK, with the rest of Europe to follow later this year. The scheme will provide travel agents who choose to sign up with access to ebookers’ network of car hire products, hotel reservations, package deals and flight bookings.

University spends £800k on taxis and hire cars

A spokesman for the debt burdened University of Cumbria has said that the £800,000 it spent on taxis and hire cars over an 18-month period is not exceptional. Figures released by the University show that in the period ending in December last year, hire cars had cost the institution around £300,000, with taxi fares making up an additional £470,000.

TUI Travel announces the return of the foreign holiday

According to TUI Travel, last year’s trend for ‘staycations’ is over and holidaymakers are now keen to get away to foreign climes in order to soak up a bit of summer sun. TUI, which owns First Choice and Thomson Holidays, said that a bounce back to normal behaviour was illustrated by an increase this year in holiday bookings from the UK. Between the middle of March and the beginning of May, TUI claim that bookings were up by five per cent.

New travel agent affiliation program launched online

Ebookers.com, one of the world’s leading online travel companies, today announced the British launch of its new agent program.
The affiliate program, dubbed ‘ebookers for agents’, will see UK travel agents provided with complete access to the range of products and services featured with ebookers. These include flight, hotel, car rental and package products which external agents will then be able to re-sell onto the consumer, offering British travel agents the opportunity to generate commissions.

£800k rental car bill defended by Cumbria University

The University of Cumbria today released figures that showed an 18-month bill for £800,000 on hire cars and taxis. The institution was quick to defend its spending, as the university is presently in debt by around £30 million.
According to a university spokesperson, the figures were nothing exceptional. She added that the money was primarily spent on placements for trainee teachers. The university did acknowledge that it was aware of the inflated costs involved in using hire cars for transporting its students, but also said that staff at the university had been working tirelessly together in an effort to lower its bills.
