Cabin crew union urges BA staff to reject deal

In a move that could end up causing yet more disruption for British Airways passengers, cabin crew union, Unite, is urging its members to consider rejecting the carrier’s new proposals over staffing levels, working conditions and pay. BA claims that it feels it has come up with a very fair deal in light of the company’s financial situation, and said that it believed it had adequately addressed all of the concerns raised by Unite.

Foreign Office advises against all travel to Thailand

Because of the increasing political tensions in Thailand, the Foreign Office is advising all Britons currently in the country to remain indoors, and to follow the situation on the world’s media. All non-essential travel to Thailand should also be avoided, according to the British government.
On Thursday the Foreign Office was advising British nationals to avoid Bangkok, but that warning has been revised to include the rest of the country. Van drivers considered the rudest on the road

Among the many motorists that induce headaches when travelling on the road, the worst offenders it seems are van drivers.
Fellow motorists have voted van drivers the most inconsiderate and rudest of all road users in a new survey on driver habits by VanInsurance.
The online insurance specialist has discovered that the so-called White Van Man, nominally a tradesperson of small business user, headed the list of rudest motorists. Taxi drivers were second on the survey, ahead of young drivers, old people and larger lorry drivers.

Travelodge launches ad campaign with Mr Sleep and the Zzzz Squad

After a 20-year hiatus from television advertising, budget hotel chain Travelodge will make a return this week with Mr Sleep and the Zzzz Squad. Featuring a gang of cuddly toys, the new commercials aim to focus on the fact that Travelodge is the affordable place to stay for those looking to get a good night’s sleep.

Economists warn of rising airfares in wake of volcanic disruption

Economic forecasters are warning that the combination of rapidly rising fuel prices, and the costs incurred by airlines because of this months volcanic cloud crisis, could mean a drastic hike in the price of airline tickets. Over the next three years this could be as much as 3.83 per cent.

British Airways could face further strike action

Union officials have announced that they will be balloting British Airways cabin crew this week, in order to see if further industrial action is deemed necessary. Airline union Unite said that it felt the negotiations with BA bosses were making progress, but that there were still some issues to be sorted out.
