The new iPhone application from popular car hire comparator CarRentals.com means booking your rental vehicle has never been easier. The new application means that customers are able to search through over 15,000 international and national hire car locations.

Volcanic ash plume heading for UK

The eruption of a volcano in Iceland may cause disruption for airline passengers in the UK throughout today and into tomorrow. The concern is that prevailing weather conditions will bring the ash plume which has been created by the eruption down through Scotland, making flying conditions hazardous for aircraft.
Aberdeen airport was closed at midnight as a precautionary measure and other Scottish airports are monitoring the situation. Aberdeen said that it was told to close by air traffic control because of the volcanic ash threat.

Avis wins customer loyalty award for 11th consecutive year

Once again, Avis Rent-A-Car has been awarded the title of leader in the field of car hire customer loyalty. The US-based Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Engagement Index found Avis the number one rental outfit for brand loyalty, marking the 11th year in a row the group has been awarded the honour.
The annual survey examines the relationship that customers have with a total of 518 different brands across 71 categories. According to Brand Keys founder and President Robert Passikof, the award was testament to Avis’s continued leadership in the pursuit of excellence in the car hire industry.

British Airways to expand routes to Africa

British Airways has announced that its recent merger with Iberia will result in more flights to African destinations for passengers travelling from Europe and Latin America. As part of the airline’s strategy to open up the African continent, BA’s chief executive Willie Walsh said that he plans to take delivery of more aircraft.
