The US train industry ia bracing itself for a boom as more people take to the rails for travel. The United States has a proud history of train travel, with much of the country built around overland routes which created the vast nation’s earliest transport links. However, in recent years, with the popularity of budget air travel, the rail industry fell into serious decline. This now seems to have gone full circle as many Americans are now returning to trains as the preferred means of travel.

Hawaii-based entrepreneurs Justin MacNaughton and Warren Doi have unveiled a new vision for eco-friendly car hire. They have launched the new Green Car Hawaii which aims to simplify the rental process while at the same time saving the environment.
The pair has decided on the new approach to an established industry as they believe the customer service aspect of hiring a vehicle is less than memorable. According to Doi, they hope to provide an experience that customers will remember.

Footage of the clash between anti-government Red Shirt protesters and Thai soldiers taken by a Japanese Reuters cameraman just before he died has been released. Hiro Muramato, who was in Bangkok to cover the political unrest for Reuters, was shot in the chest soon after capturing the remarkable footage and died from his injuries before he reached hospital.

Virgin Atlantic’s owner Sir Richard Branson has attacked competition authorities in Brussels for being misguided when it comes to what looks like being an imminent tie-up between British Airways and US giant American Airlines. The Virgin boss also called the European authorities lazy.
If regulators in the US and in Europe grant anti-trust immunity to both airlines then BA and AA will be allowed to coordinate their transatlantic schedules. Mr Branson has always been vehemently opposed to any such deal because he believes that it will be damaging to the competition.
