Eurostar, the Channel Tunnel high-speed train organisation, has rebounded from the disastrous pre-Christmas breakdowns to record a first quarter increase.
Late 2009 saw the rail carrier crippled by a series of breakdowns due to freezing weather that drew critical responses from the media, the travelling public and industry analysts. On a number of occasions, power failures caused lengthy delays and even entrapments in wintry conditions.

In a bid to raise attention for environmental awareness, the Hertz car hire group has announced its sponsorship of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder for Green Week.
Green Week is an initiative from the National Basketball Association, and will see Hertz offering a range of offers aimed at game-lovers and rental drivers.
The sponsorship will include having a Hertz Connect car sharing vehicle which will be on display at all of the Thunder’s home games, along with a special offer for Hertz’s Green Collection cars, and handy tips for driving green that can be found at the dedicated webpage of the Thunder.

Countries around the world are warning their citizens to be wary of making any non-essential trips to Thailand’s capital Bangkok in the wake of this weekend’s violence. 21 people have been confirmed dead and hundreds injured after anti-government protesters clashed with the Thai army.
A state of emergency was declared in Bangkok last week by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in the run up to this weekend’s protests. The violence was the most deadly to be seen in the Thai capital for nearly 20-years.

One current employee of British Airways and three former employees are due to appear in court to face criminal charges for colluding with Virgin Atlantic over ticket price fixing. Andrew Crawley who is still head of sales at BA will be joined by Martin George, the airline’s former commercial director; Iain Burns, former head of communications and Alan Burnett, former sales chief for the UK and Ireland.
All four men deny that they were involved in any wrong doing. However British Airways has already owned up to dealing with Virgin Atlantic, a confession which cost the airline £120 million in fines [...]
