Despite earlier rejection from the Richmond Council, the local government has granted approval for the development of the 10-storey Travelodge on the previous site of Regal House. The company projects to spend £7.5 million for the lease and for the remodelling of the office block into a hotel.
The hotel chain forecasts that an estimated £1.7 million could be brought into Twickenham’s local economy once the hotel starts its operation. Travelodge’s own research has also revealed that hotel guests normally spend £36 per day in nearby restaurants and shops during their stay.

A new study from eDigital Research shows that many online travel firms are not meeting consumer expectations. Premier Inn, Monarch, Eurotunnel and Virgin Holidays all performed well. But budget carriers were among the lowest scored companies in the survey.
According to the research of 45 top online travel firms, websites of low cost airlines only provide basic booking utility with most of them have limited customer service. In contrary, cruise liners scored high for after-sales service, with customer queries answered rapidly and efficiently.

The 2010 Fleet News Awards were held recently, with German car manufacturer BMW enjoying widespread success at the gala event. BMW took home two of the evening’s most prestigious accolades, as the industry magazine award night turned out to be a triumphant one for the group, providing much valued recognition and satisfaction after a tumultuous 18 months across the car hire and automotive industries as a whole.
