BA rivals capitalised over cabin crew strike

Rival airlines of the strike-hit UK flag carrier British Airways (BA) have been busy taking advantage of the situation by advertising their services as safe and strike-free.
Some of the recent advertisements publicised are from Bmi, Emirates and Virgin Atlantic (VA) - BA’s most bitter rival. VA recently posted on its website the slogan ‘Avoid the strikes this spring and fly Virgin Atlantic’. Also keeping up with the trend, Bmi advertised on a newspaper the quote ‘Flight cancelled? Need a lift?’. Meanwhile, Emirates said in one of its marketing shows, ‘You keep us flying’.

MTA signs new deal with TUI Travel

The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) has signed another major agreement with British tour operator TUI Travel. The new agreement aims to increase the arrivals of Brit tourists to Malta for the next three years.
The new deal also means that MTA has secured long-term travel agreements with specialist tour operator Saga Holidays and two of the UK’s major global travel agencies, TUI Travel and Thomas Cook.

Singapore named worlds best airport

The latest Skytrax Airport Awards have been announced, with Singapore dominating the event, taking out several honours across a broad range of categories.
Opened in 2008, the island state’s airport is the world’s largest and most expensive terminal, reflecting the high quality of living standards and services that characterise the city. Airline industry analysts claim that the continued recognition will reinforce Singapore’s standing as a Southeast Asian regional travel hub – despite the rapidly rising competition from budget carrier Air Asia which is based in Kuala Lumpur.
