Continental Airlines recently made public the plan to cut down its free in-flight meal service on its short-haul economy flights in the US to save as much as $35 million a year. If implemented, Continental will be the last among major US carriers to offer free in-flight meal service to economy-class passengers. Most airline companies had already pulled the service out since the economic downturn.

British Airways (BA) is planning to squeeze its passengers into planes that offer less legroom and no in-flight meal service to lessen flight cancellations during the scheduled three-day strike by its 12,000 cabin crew. BA spokesman James von der Fecht said that the company’s plan includes substituting its Airbus SAS A319 aircrafts with rented A321 planes. The rented aircraft can accommodate above 200 passengers, much higher against the 117 capacity of an A319 aircraft.

Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota has received a welcome respite from its much-publicised safety issues following the surge in popularity of its latest model Aygo.
Branded as a super city car, the Toyota Aygo has been a common and popular sight on roads across Britain since it first hit the streets back in2005.

Anyone who has tried to hire a car in recent months may have found themselves subjected to increasingly desperate measures by rental companies who are exploring all possible money-making options in a bid to rebound from the economic downturn.
This has resulted in numerous cases of overcharging and additional fees being applied that were not made readily available or understood at the time of booking. Most common among these surcharges are unnecessary insurance cover and roadside assistance levies.
