Ties between Taiwan and the UK getting stronger

The British representative of Taiwan has said that relations between the country and the UK are improving as a result of hard work and continuous exchanges.
David Campbell, the director of the British Trade and Cultural Office (BTCO) and the country’s official representative to Taiwan, said that there has been a significant increase of trade flow and investments, resulting in improved bilateral ties between the two countries.

BA will fly majority of routes after strike

Europe’s third biggest airline, British Airways (BA), said that it will operate the majority of its flights from Heathrow Airport after a second walkout of cabin crew ended at midnight.
BA cancelled a hundred of its flights when its staff made a three-day strike this week and last. The walkout, which began on 20 March, was eventually followed by four more days of work stoppage. The UK national carrier is now facing a threat of more industrial action next month if the company fails to forge a decision about the fate of 12,000 workers.

Australians name British Airways as least-favourite airline

Australian’s have voted against the group that once claimed it was the world’s favourite airline, with a new survey naming the embattled carrier as their least-favourite airline on which to travel to the United Kingdom.
British Airways finished in last place of the customer satisfaction survey conducted by travel consultancy specialists Choice. Australia’s national carrier fared little better, receiving poor scores for its British service.

Saraswat Bank now offers MoneyGram

The biggest travel-related financial services firm, Thomas Cook, has recently signed a contract with Saraswat Co-operative Bank to offer its international money transfer service throughout all of the bank’s branches.
Saraswat Bank, India’s leading co-operative savings bank, has a total asset of more than Rs22,000 crore. The bank has an interconnected network of over 200 branches – spreading across Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi. With the new tie up, all of Saraswat Bank’s clients will be able to use the fund transfer service MoneyGram offered by Thomas Cook.

Lawsuits filed against Airbus over Air France crash

Relatives of passengers killed in the ill-fated Air France Flight 447 have recently filed nearly two dozen wrongful death lawsuits in Florida against the aircraft maker Airbus.
The grievances claim that the A330 crashed because of several flaws in the plane and its components that were manufactured in the US. Podhurst Orseck, a Miami-based law firm, has filed a total of 23 wrongful death complaints on behalf of the passengers’ relatives and is expecting to add 10 more claims in the following few weeks.

Advito issues revised industry forecasts

BCD Travel, the world’s third-largest travel management organisation, has released its global update for the first quarter through its consulting unit Advito. The revised update includes projections that hotel room rates will fall and that car rental charges will rise, with North American airfares remaining stable.
The hotel rate revision was applied to room rates at leading travel markets including China, Spain, France, India, Germany, Brazil, the UK and the US. BA rivals capitalised over cabin crew strike

Rival airlines of the strike-hit UK flag carrier British Airways (BA) have been busy taking advantage of the situation by advertising their services as safe and strike-free.
Some of the recent advertisements publicised are from Bmi, Emirates and Virgin Atlantic (VA) - BA’s most bitter rival. VA recently posted on its website the slogan ‘Avoid the strikes this spring and fly Virgin Atlantic’. Also keeping up with the trend, Bmi advertised on a newspaper the quote ‘Flight cancelled? Need a lift?’. Meanwhile, Emirates said in one of its marketing shows, ‘You keep us flying’.

MTA signs new deal with TUI Travel

The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) has signed another major agreement with British tour operator TUI Travel. The new agreement aims to increase the arrivals of Brit tourists to Malta for the next three years.
The new deal also means that MTA has secured long-term travel agreements with specialist tour operator Saga Holidays and two of the UK’s major global travel agencies, TUI Travel and Thomas Cook.
