British royal family takes taxis to unofficial engagements

The British Royal Family is now utilizing black taxis to travel to unofficial engagements instead of using its expensive fleet vehicles as the Queen attempts to minimize the household’s expenses.
Minor Royals Viscount Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto already use the Dial-a-Cab taxi service.
Now, the Royal Family financial advisers are formulating a plan to include top Royals including Prince Harry and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie in using the cab service wherever possible.

Dubai tourism declined according to recent study

According to figures recently released by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) which was published by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), there was a significant decline of tourist coming in to Dubai from Europe in the last nine months. The number fell 5.7 per cent in the third quarter as compared in the same period in 2008.
Sean Tipton, spokesperson from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) said that the decline of tourist in Dubai is much more acceptable comparing to other countries affected by the recent financial crisis.

Car hire firms to combat theft through remote tracking

The ability to utilise new technology to remotely disable vehicles in an effort to eliminate theft could soon be adopted by hire car operators and possibly even the military. Fleet M8, the vehicle-tracking organisation based on Tyneside, has announced the details of its new tracking system which will be promoted firmly at organisations with large vehicle fleets along with departments related to national security. This means the government and rental operators will soon be able to benefit from the anti-theft developments.

Car hire companies slow to switch to green vehicles

While the consumer car industry rushes to adopt the eco-friendly green vehicles and hybrid cars it appears that the rental market is severely lagging behind. Several operators have claimed that the prohibitive costs associated with a switch to green technology have left them unable to offer hybrid models.
