The largest building in the world chose to blow people away with an amazing opening ceremony. The Burj Khalifa in Dubai just recently changed its name in honour the United Arab Emirates president Sheikh Khaliffa bin Zayed al Nahyan and his role in helping the Emirate navigate the financial crisis.
The opening of the building was accompanied by amazing fireworks and a laser show. Reports have been coming in that show that a Ryanair jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Liverpool on Monday over fears of a fire on board the plane. The plane was en route to Agadir in Morocco from Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport. After a fire indicator light came on in the cockpit, the airplane made a u-turn and landed back at the airport.

Apparently a number of UK airports had to shutdown and a lot of rail services delayed recently due to a big freeze that continues to hold the UK at its mercy. Places like Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester had to close down their airports earlier in the week due to heavy snowfall and ice on the runways. Although most airports are now back open, the damage has already been done to some flight schedules.

Clayton Dubilier & Rice, a US-based buy-out house, closed it’s latest round of fundraising at $5 billion but failing to reach its target goal of $7.5 billion which it had hoped to garner from its latest fundraising circuit. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the firm had trouble raising as much as hoped during a touch fundraising climate.
