Thousands of stranded passengers just before Christmas and hundreds of holidays ruined has not apparently affected the standing of the Eurostar boss who oversaw the chaos. An estimated 100,000 people were caught out by the closures brought about by heating defects and cold weather.
Eurostar is expected to announce this week the appointment of CEO Nicolas Petrovic to the post of head of the company’s rail operations on January first where he will replace incumbent Richard Brown. Petrovic will not only have a new title but a six-figure increase in his salary with his new role paying around £400,000 per annum.

Two people were killed in England’s southwest on Wednesday as a bus overturned on treacherously icy roads. 47 people were injured in the tragedy as all across the UK travel was affected by the miserable weather.
The accident with the bus occurred after it rolled on its way back from a viewing visit of Christmas lights. The bus slid off the road before colliding with a tree and turning to its side as it ended through a hedgerow according to police reports.

Lately there has been a big scramble by Eurostar passengers to find a way to get on the limited scheduled trains before Christmas. However, Eurostar has come forward and issued a statement saying that it will be running services throughout the day.

New reports now show that dozens of passengers were injured after an American Airlines jet overshot the runaway in Jamaica when trying to land in heavy rain. The fuselage of the Boeing 737-800 broke into two pieces on impact. Despite this bad news, no reports suggested any fatalities.
A spokesman for American Airlines, Tim Wagner, said that the Boeing 737-800, which is one of the airline’s newest models, was carrying 148 passengers at the time of the crash. There were six crew members on board as well.
