Britain to Expect Snow and Ice for New Year

All holiday season, Britain has seen ill travel conditions thanks to bad weather. Well it now seems that these bad weather conditions do not plan to stop just because the New Year approaches. In fact, Brits can expect snow and freezing weather to start out a very icy 2010.
Forecasters are expecting to see temperatures of 28°F in most of England and Wales as of Thursday night. Although that is pretty cold, Scotland is going to be looking at temperatures that fall just below 17°F accompanied by widespread snow.

British Tourist Goes Missing in Swiss Alps

It now seems that the family of a British tourist, who has gone missing in the Swiss Alps since last Tuesday, says that it seems he has vanished into thin air. Posters have been put up around the Swiss town of Wengen in an attempt to find Myles Robinson, age 23.
Police have taken DNA samples from his parents, Sarah and Michael, to help with identification. The Swiss army is also getting involved in the search and have included helicopters, sniffer dogs and infrared cameras.

Worlds fastest train unveiled in China

The weekend saw the unleashing of what has been called the fastest ever high-speed train in China. The new passenger carrier can achieve an average speed of some 217mph with a top speed of close to 250mph.
The new train will operate from the central Chinese city of Wuhan to Guangzhou in the south and will reduce the travel time for the 664 mile journey from 9 hours to just 3. The link will provide vital transport services to and from the south coast, Hong Kong in particular.

Europes leading remarketing vehicle company sold

The leading remarketing and vehicle auction company in Europe, BCA, has been acquired by Clayton, Dublier & Rice (CD&R) from current owners Montagu Private Equity.
Spread across some twelve countries and comprising 45 remarketing centres the BCA group sells more than £4 billion worth of used vehicles each year. These range from ex-rental stock to nearly new and some older models. As well as income generated from its physical auctions BCA also makes a significant profit through its online services. Etihad Airways Gets First Airbus A330-300

It seems now that Etihad Airways has taken the delivery of its first Airbus A330-300. This aircraft is configured with the airline’s new first, business and economy cabin products. This aircraft is the first of five new A330-300s the Abu Dhabi-based airline will take delivery of during the next two years. The plane itself will soon be deployed between Abu Dhabi and London. The new plane carries 12 passengers in first class, 40 in business class and 151 economy class passengers.

Ryanair Says it May Stop Local Flights in Italy

Apparently Ryanair has just recently threatened to stop domestic flights in Italy starting next month amid a dispute with the country’s authorities over new rules on ID documents that passengers can show at airport gates. Ryanair pointed out that Domestic flights operated at 10 Italian airports, which does include Rome and Milan, will be grounded starting January 23 if the issue is not resolved.
Just last month, the Italy Civil Aviation Authority, ENAC, ordered airlines to accept driving licenses, government badges, fishing and hunting licenses, as well as other documents to identify passengers at boarding gates for domestic flights. Ryanair said [...]

E-Clear Finally Speaks of Globespan Collapse

Elias Elia, the owner of E-Clear, which is the online transaction company that has been linked to the collapse of Globespan’s airline, Flyglobespan, has finally come out and broken his company’s silence about the matter. Elia, who is the chief executive of E-Clear, has said that his firm was not responsible for the airline’s collapse and that he was getting on extremely well with administrators of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
