According to sources, British Airways is all set to launch a legal battle against the 12 day strike that will start on December 22nd, which has been called on by the cabin crew members of the union Unite. Apparently the court case to establish the validity of the ballot was heard on December 16th. After the court hearing British Airways and Unite were set to meet for official talks for the first time since the strike was announced.

Travel agents will now have the ability to get access to 90 percent of the world’s cruises from 16 operators with the launch of a new online booking tool. This new booking tool could change the way that agents around the world work and the great deals that they can get for holidaymakers.

New reports show that the prime minister has stepped in to try his hand at resolving the British Airways strike. This news comes out as British Airways made its way to High Court to seek a last minute injunction. The prime minister, Gordon Brown, said that he spoke to the Transport Minister, Lord Adonis, earlier this week and pledged that the government would do everything that it can to resolve this dispute. However, there is little time left for the government to do anything since the strike is due to start on December 22nd – just next Tuesday.

The airline industry is reeling from the collapse of Scottish carrier Globespan last night, having failed in its last ditch attempt at a massive bailout package.
Up to 4,000 people are estimated to be stranded abroad following the grounding of all planes operated by Flyglobespan, with some 3,400 not covered by insurance under the ATOL programme. Some 5,000 passengers were expected to use the airline services over the next few days and as many as 90,000 future reservations may not be covered. A south London double-decker bus has been overturned after a collision with a lorry. The C3 bus was carrying passengers during the morning rush hour when the collision occurred. The east-Cheshire town of Knutsford is looming as a key player in the calls for improvements to rail links in the area, with better promotion of the Mid Cheshire line seen as one badly in need of more comprehensive promotion says a rail partnership organisation.

Capgemini UK Plc has been has its long term contract for outsourcing IT provisions for The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) for a further 10 years. The extension which will last till 2019 has been signed by the Rail Settlement Plan Ltd in conjunction with the provider and is worth an estimated £18.5 million.
The scope of the agreement covers support for Infrastructure and Application Management in addition to IT infrastructure, primarily for technology that supports the rail networks reservation systems.
