Air Travel Operators Licensing Overhaul Backed by UK Government

It seems that British travelers will soon have less to worry about as they plan their travels. This includes having to find a tour operator to plan their vacations in order to be protected by the Air Travel Operators Licensing (ATOL) system. Well now British travelers are poised to receive greater protection should an airline go bankrupt thanks to an overhaul to the ATOL system by the Transport Secretary, Lord Adonis.

Ebookers Reorganizes its Business Operations

Tamer Tamar, the President of Ebookers, said that the company and one of the largest online travel companies, Orbitz Worldwide, will be reorganizing their business operations. After the good turn out in 2009 for Ebookers, the company now benefits from increased access to hotel inventory and technology that delivers more innovations faster to consumers.
Apparently Ebookers posted a 43 percent year on year growth in hotel room nights in the third quarter of 2009. This has contributed positively to Orbitz Worldwide’s performance as well. Emirates Able to Raise $1.1 Billion in Funding for Aircrafts

Apparently there is good news for Emirates and its financial position. Despite recent rumors, Emirates is out to show everyone that it is fine, and to prove it, the company has raised $1.13 billion for the delivery of Airbus A380 superjumbos. The company is all set to take the delivery of one of these superjumbos, which will be part of the 53 A30’s that the company has already ordered.

UK high speed train debuts today

At 5.13am this morning a revolution in British rail travel as an early whistle will sound out in the darkness signalling the departure of a historic journey.
Britain’s first high-speed commuter train will have hit the dizzying heights of a top speed of 140mph as it flies across Kent from Ashford to eventually dock at London’s St Pancras station. The 58 mile journey will take a mere 37 minutes. Transport Secretary Lord Adonis and Dame Kelly Holmes will be two of the high profile passengers on the inaugural journey.

Economy car hire launches in time for South Africa World Cup
