Apparently, the chief executive at EasyJet, Andy Harrison, said that he is going to quit the airline in June after four years. After leaving the airline Mr Harrison hopes to seek out new challenges to take part in.
According to reports, Andy Harrison will stay in post for the next six months to give the budget airline time to find a replacement for him. This news came from a statement that was delivered from the board on December 8th.

The Civil Aviation Authority has just recently reported that Coventry Airport will be closing down. The report went on to show that the airport’s owners, West Midlands Airport Ltd, just recently issued a Notice to Airmen informing them of the closure.
The owners had been due to actually appear in High Court this week to respond to a winding up petition. The airport has not been used for scheduled passenger flights since airline Thomsonfly ceased operations there in November 2008.

Apparently Stagecoach, one of the operators of the UK’s busiest commuter train services, has announced its first half profits declined by 13 percent as the recession continues to curb travel demand. However, fuel and pension cost increases have also led to this fall.
The overall net income for the company fell to just 60.6 million pounds, or the same as $98 million. This is a decline of 84p a share. The UK car industry has welcomed the British government’s decision to offer extended tax reductions for electric vehicles to fleet buyers and commercial vehicles. The tax breaks are already offered to private car owners.
In his pre-budget report Alistair Darling has reported that electric powered vehicles would be exempt from company car tax for five years, with electric vans also exempted from the van benefit charge. Van operators will also be further bolstered by changes that will see them able to write off the full cost of any corporate taxes in their first year.

Britain’s largest and busiest commuter train service, Stagecoach Group Plc, has announced that its first half profit has fallen by 13 percent due to the reduced demand for travel brought about by the recession in addition to rising fuel and pension costs.
Net income for the group fell by £60.6 million to a total of £98 million at 8.4p per share. This represents a decline from the £69.4 million, or 9.6p per share, from the same period last year according to a statement released by the Scottish based company in a statement released today.
