It now seems that Whitbread has had a vision, and that vision is to move towards becoming a greener company. Whitbread, who also happens to be the owners of Premier Inn, are now saying that they want to dramatically slash their CO2 emissions.
The hotel and restaurant group said it wants to reduce its carbon output by 26 percent in time for 2020. This is now the company’s first big statement on its intention to cut their carbon reduction. Aviation CO2 emissions should be capped, according to a report from the Committee on Climate Change. Apparently the report points out that aviation growth cannot exceed 60 percent if the government is to hit its targets to limit aviation emissions.
The report shows that all departing and arriving flights in developed countries should be subject to the cap. Also, rail needs to be promoted as an alternative to short haul flights. This is something, however, that the airline industry does not want to hear.

It now seems that Dubai World may be forced to sell off domestic and overseas assets. This includes P&O and QE2 as it attempts to restructure its $60 billion debt mountain. The company has strongly denied that it may have to sell off some of its prized assets, but comments from Dubai’s finance chief indicate that it may have no other choice.

The Scottish public agency Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has announced that it has allocated some £4 million in funding over the next three to four years for the iconic Cairngorm funicular railway.
HIE claimed that its investment would see the site brought up to an appropriate standard that would enable bids from new contractors hopefully from the private sector. Car parking changes for the railway service have also been proposed by HIE.

Car hire users amongst English football fans planning on attending the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 have been advised to thoroughly research the country prior to their travels. The Foreign Office warning also comes at a time when fans have been urged to protect themselves against carjacking and also too book all tickets well in advance.
