It now seems that Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has come forward and gave her two cents about the government’s decision to increase the Air Passenger Duty tax. She noted that this will have a negative impact on the Caribbean economy and will do very little for the environment as well. Overall, she pointed out that the tax as a whole just does not add up.

It now seems that American Express has just recently reported that they have seen two thirds of European businesses cut their travel budget in 2009. These reports go on to suggest that the average spending on travel had dropped as much as 18 percent per business.
TMC’s European Business Travel Barometer for 2009 went on to show that 366 companies that were quizzed had cut their travel budget by an average of 18 percent. Just recently, the travel conditions in Scotland and north west England have taken a turn for the worst thanks to major floods, which have been causing many travel problems. Due to these floods, many trains are not running and buses, which would be replacing many of the train cancellations are unable to operate in many areas.

Fresh calls have come from health and travel experts for the need for travel insurance for those UK holidaymakers planning on visiting the Channel Islands following the end of a mutual agreement between the Islands and Britain.

This year marked the 30th anniversary of the World Travel Market (WTM) held in London, with car hire operator Decode making a significant impact on new and existing partners alike.
Of particular interest to conference attendees was Decode’s commitment to strengthen its customer service department, a move that was widely welcomed.
