It now seems, as of November 12th, British Airways and Travelport have signed a new full contract agreement. This long term, global contract is set to continue until April 2013. It means that all of British Airways’ published fares and inventory will be available to travel agents connected to Travelport’s platforms.
British Airways’ head of selling and disruption, John Mornement, said that the agreement will both reduce their distribution costs and ensure that agents continue to have access to their full published content. This does include their lowest fares through Galileo and Worldspan, which are Travelport platforms.

The airline known as British Midland Airways, better known as Bmi, has just recently countered speculations that it will not be able to continue operations beyond the current year. Reports went on to say that the company would not be able to meet its financial commitments. However, Bmi had denied this rumor and said that it would be able to meet its commitments and had adequate resources.

After dealing with strikes already, it would seem that unions have once again presented another stage of strikes for the well known Spanish airline Iberia. The new strikes will last for eight days unless pay agreements can be reached.
As of now, the dates of the proposed strikes are from November 39th to December 2nd, and then again from December 14th through December 18th. These strikes will, of course, cause some major disruptions with holiday travelers. Virgin Atlantic yesterday announced the launch of a unique new scheme that will assist passengers to find fellow travellers to share taxis from the world’s airports into towns. The initiative will save both money and carbon emissions.
The Taxi2 website can put people in touch who are arriving at the same time or even on the same flights that have similar end destinations in mind, be it city or countryside.
Customers wishing to use the service can log on to the taxi.to website and enter their relevant information such as hotel address. The site will then find an appropriate companion.

Jamaica has been announced as the World’s Leading Cruise Destination for the fourth consecutive year at the prestigious World Travel Awards. Jamaica also recorded its fifth victory as Leading Cruise Destination in the Caribbean while Ocho Rios won the award for leading Caribbean port.
Dubbed the travel and tourism Oscars, the World Travel Awards are decided by travel professionals from over 160 countries and 183,000 companies across the globe. Organisers claim winning an award brings more exposure, recognition and ultimately passengers to the victor.
