It seems now that Tourism Ireland has chose to launch a brand new campaign, for which the main goal is to increase the number of visitors from the UK to the island by next year. This new strategy, which was launched at the World Travel Market, just recently showed that Ireland means business for the upcoming year.
Apparently the new campaign is set to target both business and leisure visitors. This move from Tourism Ireland comes following one of the most difficult years that the tourism industry has ever seen, said the chief executive of Tourism Ireland, Naill Gibbons.

It seems that during the European Tour Operators Association GEM Conference of 2009, which took place just last week in London, a number of issues regarding travel came up. One such issue that was heavily talked about was the UK’s travel taxation, which has been under heavy fire from many airlines and tour groups. According to reports, in an effort to build up an already successful network of flights, Etihad Airways has announced that it will be increasing its flights from Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt, Germany. As of right now, this route will see an increase from 10 to 13 flights per week starting in December. However, the flights per week will be moved up to double daily flights in March of 2010.

A United Airlines pilot was this week arrested for allegedly consuming too much alcohol before entering the cockpit. The arrest was the latest in a string of incidents concerning airline pilots and intoxication.
Erwin Vermont Washington was ready to take off with 124 passengers aboard his United Airlines flight from London’s Heathrow Airport bound for Chicago. The two young cousins who were involved in a Cyprus car crash in which a moped rider died have been denied their appeal to avoid extradition from the UK.
The two men, Michael Binnington, 24, and Luke Atkinson, 25, are from Witham in Essex and will fly out to the island in the coming days to face manslaughter charges.
