British Airways Strike May Deliver Nothing but Christmas Misery

Many people have been talking about a possible upcoming strike by the British Airways cabin crew, which would affect Christmas travelers. Well it has been reported that the Unite union, which represents about 14,000 British Airways cabin crew, said that they would be announcing the results of the strike ballot as of December 14th.
Due to employment law, this means that the first walkout could take place as of December 21st. The union would be free to continue the industrial strike over the course of 28 days, meaning that the strike would, not only affect Christmas, but New Year’s as well.

Ryanair Announces its Plans to Change Growth Strategy

New reports show that Ryanair is now thinking of easing back on its decade long expansion. This new change in growth strategy comes as the hotel chain aims to keep a lid on its operating costs and keep offering customers low fares.
Ryanair went on to report that it has had a 35 percent jump in its net profits for the three months to September 30th. Michael O’Leary, the outspoken and highly quotable chief executive of Ryanair, has called into doubt the airline’s agreement with Boeing if the plane manufacturer does not play ball his way.
Ryanair is one of the few airlines to have substantial cash reserves and the recession, claims O’Leary, has played directly into their hands. The aggressive expansion and discounted ticket prices have placed Ryanair in a unique position of strength.

British couple has hire car seized by Spanish police

A warning to all hire car users heading to Spain; make sure you have enough cash on you if you plan of breaking the law by speeding.
The Spanish police impounded a hire car being used by a UK couple after they did not have sufficient in-hand finances to cover an on the spot fine. The pair was left stranded in a roadside lay by as they watched the seized Citroen being towed away.
Chris and Susan Troughton were then forced to travel via rail and taxi to reclaim the rental vehicle, a round trip of some seven hours and 180 Euros.
