Rail Europe and Amadeus Make Agreement

Rail Europe, one of the leading distributors of European Rail worldwide, and Amadeus, which is a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel industry, have now partnered together to increase the reach of Rail Europe’s European railway products. Leading Business Hotel in England is Crowned

It now seems that the London Hilton on Park Lane is currently celebrating being crowned as England’s Leading Business Hotel at the 2009 World Travel Awards. This ceremony was held back on October 17th at the Marriott Praia Del Rey Obidos in Portugal. This is an awards show that has already been coined as the Oscars of the travel and tourism industry.

Network Rail Aims For Electric Rails Between London and Sheffield

It now seems that a new plan to expand the electric rail network has just recently been unveiled by Network Rail. This new plan is the results of a year long study that says that these electric routes could be a way to improve capacity, journey time and reduce carbon emissions. The reduction of carbon emissions is something that the UK has been working on for a long time.

Expedia release latest quarterly operating results

One of the world’s leading travel companies, Expedia, has released its operating results for the third quarter of 2009.
There has been significant growth in Expedia’s online penetration due to increased familiarity and usage with the internet by consumers, with expenditure rising accordingly. In the US, online spending grew by 58% and by 33% in Europe as the tourism industry bounces back from a recession hit first half of the year.
Online investment has grown massively over the past few years, and although the rise has attracted new competitors the forecast if for continued growth.

Hertz record 3Q drop in revenue

Global car hire giant Hertz has recorded a third quarter decrease in revenue by $2 billion, which works out as drop by 15.7 percent over a year.
The company has also reported that revenues from worldwide equipment rental for the third quarter were down by 35.2 percent or $280.5 million over the last year.

Europe increases high speed rail network

The European Travel Commission has trumpeted its latest success by celebrating the resurgent rail travel industry. The decline in air travel and renewed interest in train travel has resulted in the ETC announcing a range of improvements that are imminent. These include plans to expand and develop the high-speed rail facilities across the region through more modern locomotives, track improvements and the creation of new mountain tunnels.
