It now seems that GOL, one of the largest low cost and low fare airlines in all of Latin America, and Iberia, the well known Spanish air transport group, have announced a brand new code share agreement between their two groups. The two groups went on to say that they are exploring the idea of possibility linking their frequent flier programs as well. This would link Iberia’s Plus with GOL’s SMILES.

Opponents of building an airport in the Thames Estuary say that the plan could lead to congestion in the sky, noise problems and bird strikes.

Airlines in the United States revealed third-quarter earnings this week with mixed results and falling share prices. The falling cost of fuel has still been impacted on by the weak economic environment which continues to be the major influence affecting flights.
Some US-based carriers have reported falls in share prices of up to 12% as the future remains cloudy for high margin business travel.
AirTran Holdings and Continental Airways were among the few to record mild third quarter profits, whereas as AMR, the parent company of American Airlines revealed a loss.

It now seems like Czech Airlines has chosen a new team to tackle their losses. To head off the team, Czech Airlines has picked the head of the Prague Airport as its brand new chief executive. His main goal is to drive through an essential turnaround plan to help the struggling airline.

The well known UK travel agent, Thomas Cook, has just revealed that it is the latest sponsor of the 2012 London Olympic Games. Thomas Cook became a tier two sponsor in a deal that is said to be worth more than £20 million.
Thomas Cook is planning to provide some short breaks and trips for the 2012 London Olympic Games. The goal for the company is to provide more than 250,000 packages, including transport, tickets and accommodations. According to the award winning rental car company Europcar, Britons love their cars more than any other European counterpart, with nearly 75% claiming that they loved having their own vehicle – compared to 60% elsewhere.
Losing their beloved car would devastate more than two thirds of UK drivers, against a lot higher than the 60% who said something similar in six continental countries that took part in the survey. The Europcar survey covered over 5,000 drivers from Italy, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal and Germany.
