82 Pigs Cause the Closing of M11 Southbound Towards London

Apparently the very busy motorway, the Southbound M11 towards London, was recently shutdown after a HGV carrying a consignment of 82 pigs crashed. The Essex Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene at Junction 8 to find that about 12 pigs had escaped from the lorry and were running free on the road.
A spokesman said, at 5:21am on Wednesday morning, the carriageway was closed while emergency crews tried to round up the animals and secure them in a makeshift pen. The police, at the time, said that about 50 animals were still believed to be trapped in the wreckage, which [...]

UK Government Considers High Speed Rail between London and Scotland

The government is truly thinking about moving ahead with a high speed rail network between London and Scotland. This is an agreement that could go through as early as March, according to the Transport Secretary, Lord Adonis.

Brits Continue to Cut Holidays Out of Budget

Despite all of the discounts being offered by travel companies all over the UK, many Brits are still planning on taking no trips away next year. Recent polls suggest that Brits are simply going to cut holiday trips out of their budgets.
In 2009, a total of about 10 percent took no breaks. However, figures for next year suggest that about 18 percent of all Brits will take no break in 2010, according to a survey that was taken by travelsupermarket.com.

New report puts forward London high speed rail link

The British government is set to receive plans for a new London station in the heart of the city to handle the proposed high speed rail network.
The report will be presented by High Speed 2 (HS2) which was commissioned by the government to undertake a comprehensive investigation of potential high speed rail lines across Britain, with Scotland and the West Midlands also on the agenda. Britain’s love affair with the madcap motoring team from Top Gear has seen the show take out the honour of being the decade’s favourite television program.

British Airways Could be Hit by A February Strike Threat

Failed al-Qaeda Bomber is Just one of Many

Apparently the would-be terrorist that tried to blow up a United States jet on Christmas Day has recently revealed that there are more just like him that are currently being trained by al-Qaeda. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab went on to tell agents that were questioning him that he was one of many bombers being groomed to perform more attacks on American-bound aircrafts.

UK to See Tourism Growth in the New Year

Experts are now saying that visitor numbers to the UK will top 30 million as tourism to the UK returns to growth next year. According to predictions from VisitBritain, there should be a rise of 0.8 percent in the number of visitors that make their way to the UK.
